An M3U player is an app that opens an M3U or M3U8 playlist — a plain-text list of channel names and stream links from your provider — and plays those channels with a proper on-screen interface. Anees TV is a free M3U player with no ads, built first for the TV remote and then for every other screen in the house.
It is a player only. Anees TV ships with no channels, no playlists and no subscription: the M3U link comes from the provider you already use, and the app turns it into live TV, films and series you can actually browse.
An M3U file on its own is just text — a line with a channel name, a line with a stream address, repeated a few thousand times. A good M3U player does the work that file cannot do for itself:
M3U and M3U8 are the same thing for this purpose: .m3u8 just
declares that the text is UTF-8, which matters for Arabic, Turkish or accented
channel names. Paste either one as it is.
iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV versions are on the way.
The free app is the full player, not a trial: live TV, films and series, favourites and Continue watching on that device, and no ads at all. The free tier holds one playlist and refreshes it when you ask.
Pro is optional and adds the things that need a server or a second screen: unlimited playlists, automatic playlist refresh, encrypted sync across up to five devices, Continue watching on any device, offline downloads, playback speed, household profiles, and richer ratings and artwork. There are no ads on Pro either — there are no ads anywhere.
No playlist yet? Explore with a demo playlist on the setup screen loads free, legal sample content, so you can try the app before you add your own.

Yes. The free tier plays one M3U or Xtream Codes playlist with live TV, films and series, and it never shows ads. Pro is an optional upgrade for extras such as more playlists, sync and downloads.
No. Anees TV is a player only and does not provide, sell or host channels or playlists. You add the M3U link from the provider you already use, and you are responsible for having the right to watch it.
For a playlist link, nothing that matters to you: both are the same list of channels and stream addresses. M3U8 simply declares that the text is UTF-8. Anees TV reads both, so paste whichever your provider gave you.
Not at the moment. Anees TV fetches the playlist from a link that starts with http:// or https://, so it can refresh it later. If you only have a file, ask your provider for the link or for an Xtream Codes login.
In Anees TV the TV guide (EPG) works with Xtream Codes logins today; guide support for M3U playlists is coming. Posters are matched by title, so an unusual name can miss. The EPG guide walks through the causes.
Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, Android phones and tablets, and Windows 10 and 11. With Pro, one account syncs your playlists, favourites and progress across up to five devices.
