How to install Anees TV on Android TV or Google TV

Google Play, the Downloader code, or one adb command

Anees TV is an IPTV player. It ships with no channels, no movies and no subscription — you bring the M3U or Xtream Codes playlist you already have and Anees plays it, with a real EPG guide, posters and an interface built for a remote rather than a mouse. You will sometimes see the name written Anis TV or أنيس تي في; same app.

"Android TV" here covers anything running Google's TV platform: a Google TV Streamer or Chromecast with Google TV, a Nvidia Shield, a Xiaomi or Mi Box, a Sony Bravia or Philips or TCL television, and most of the cheap Android TV boxes. There are three ways in; pick one.

What you need

Route A — Google Play (easiest)

  1. Open the Play Store on the TV and search for Anees TV. Or send it from your phone: open the Google Play listing, choose Install, and pick your TV from the device list — the install starts on the TV by itself.
  2. Open it from the Apps row. Updates then arrive automatically, which is the real reason to prefer this route.

Route B — the Downloader app (no browser, no computer)

  1. Install Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Play Store on the TV. It exists precisely for boxes with no browser and no file manager.
  2. Allow it to install apps. Android TV asks the first time — Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps → Downloader → allow. On some boxes it is Security & restrictions → Unknown sources.
  3. Enter the code. In Downloader's URL box type 2228177 and press Go. That permanent AFTVnews short code resolves to aneestv.com/dl/tv — this site, and the same build the Devices section on our home page serves.
  4. Install, open, delete the file. About 100 MB downloads, Android shows its installer, choose Install then Open, and let Downloader delete the APK afterwards.

Route C — adb, from a computer

  1. Turn on developer mode on the TV: Settings → System → About, then click Build seven times. Then Settings → System → Developer options → USB/network debugging → ON, and note the TV's IP address under Settings → Network.
  2. Download the APK to the computer from aneestv.com/dl/tv.
  3. Connect and install — two commands, and accept the prompt that appears on the television:
    adb connect 192.168.1.50:5555
    adb install AneesTV.apk

Add your first playlist

  1. Anees TV opens on Add your playlist. Choose Xtream Codes and fill in Playlist name, Server, Username and Password; or choose M3U URL and paste your M3U playlist URL. Press Save & load.
  2. Not ready to type credentials with a remote? Pick Explore with a demo playlist — free, legal sample content, and you can add your own later from Settings → Playlists → Add playlist.

Getting around with the remote

Troubleshooting

The Play Store on the TV cannot find it

Older boxes on very old Android versions fall outside the listing's supported set. Route B or C installs the same build regardless.

"App not installed" at the end of the adb or Downloader install

Almost always an older copy signed with a different key. Uninstall the existing Anees TV first (Settings → Apps), then install again.

Everything is there but playback stutters

Cheap boxes run out of decoding headroom before they run out of network. Open the ⓘ info panel while playing: if it reads Software, pick the FHD/1080p version of the same channel and switch engine from the top bar to Compatible. Separately, set Settings → Video decoding → Hardware — fast: it forces the zero-copy decoder, which is the real fix for stutter.

No posters and no TV guide

Those come from your provider's data plus TMDB. A bare M3U list often carries no metadata at all — see the M3U guide for what a playlist can and cannot supply.
