The TV guide (EPG) or the posters are missing

Where each one comes from — and when there is genuinely nothing to show

Anees TV is an IPTV player and ships with no channels or media of its own — the schedule included. Programme times belong to your provider, posters to a public film database; Anees fetches and arranges both. Neither is ours to invent, so the fix is sometimes on their side.

Two different things, two different sources

They fail independently, so a full guide with blank posters — or the reverse — is normal.

Where the guide comes from

Guide data is an Xtream Codes feature. Anees TV asks the panel for its full guide file and joins each programme to a channel by the id the panel publishes for it; if that file is empty, it falls back to asking channel by channel.

A plain M3U link carries no guide at all. An M3U line is a name, a logo and a stream URL — nothing about programmes to read. On an M3U playlist the TV Guide fills every row with "No information". No setting changes that; the upgrade is an Xtream login from the same provider, which usually costs nothing to ask for.

One more silent reason an Xtream guide comes back empty: the file is too big. Anees TV refuses a guide over roughly 12 MB rather than choke a TV box on it, and you get the "No information" grid, not an error.

When the fetch actually fails, the guide screen says so: "Couldn't load the TV guide. Your provider may not offer one, or the connection failed." A grid of "No information" means it loaded empty — a different problem.

The guide is loaded once per session

This one surprises people. Settings → Refresh → Refresh playlist now re-downloads your channels, movies and series — it does not re-fetch the guide. For a fresh guide, reopen the app, or press Retry inside the TV Guide when it reports a failure.

The now-playing line under each channel

Show what's on now puts a programme line under each channel name. It is fed only by the full guide file, never by the per-channel fallback — so on a panel where only the fallback works the list looks bare while the TV Guide screen still shows now and next.

Everything is an hour or three out

A guide file normally stamps each programme with its own time offset, which Anees TV converts to your clock. When a provider leaves that offset out, the only safe assumption is UTC — so the schedule lands shifted by however far you are from it. There is no time-shift setting; it is a provider fix.

Posters, descriptions and ratings

The switch is Settings → Metadata (posters & ratings) → Enhance with TMDB. Off, it reads "Off — using provider data only" and you get your provider's artwork and nothing else.

A match misses when the cleaned title leads nowhere: a wrong year, a transliteration no database uses, or punctuation spelled differently. From our own demo playlist — TMDB lists the film as Elephants Dream, the playlist said Elephant's Dream, and that apostrophe lost the artwork.

A clean "nothing found" is remembered, so a title stays blank even after the name is corrected — until you use Clear metadata cache in the same section. Accurate ratings and the large backdrop artwork are Pro.

The honest limit

If your provider publishes no guide data, no app can invent one. Another app showing a schedule on the same subscription is reading something your panel does give out — so ask them for the Xtream login, or for the guide to be switched on. Otherwise only a different provider fixes it.

Troubleshooting

Some channels have a guide and the rest say "No information"

The panel publishes a guide id for some channels and not the others, so there is nothing to join the schedule to. Common on resold packages.

The guide is right but the movie posters are blank

Check Enhance with TMDB is on, then read the titles: a wall of blanks usually means the names carry tags or years that point nowhere.

A poster appeared once and now that title is blank forever

A remembered miss. Clear metadata cache, then reopen the title.

The guide is a day behind

It is loaded once per session — close the app fully and reopen it.
