Short answer: use the Xtream Codes login if your provider gives you one. In Anees TV it brings series in seasons, the provider's TV guide and your expiry date. Use the M3U link when that is all you have — it plays the same channels, with less around them.
Both are ways to reach a subscription you already have with an IPTV provider. Neither one is a service, and neither comes with channels of its own. An Xtream Codes login is three details — server, username and password — that let the player ask your provider for each part of your catalogue. An M3U link is one address that downloads the whole list as a single text file.
| Xtream Codes login | M3U link | |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter | Server, username and password: three short fields | One playlist URL, often long |
| TV guide (EPG) | Comes from your provider, with no extra setup. You can also paste your own guide link or shift the times | Not available yet for M3U playlists in Anees TV |
| Films and posters | Films arrive in your provider's film categories, with posters and descriptions | Sorted by the playlist's group names; artwork only when a line names a logo |
| Series | Shows with seasons and episodes | Each episode is its own entry, as the file lists it |
| Catch-up | Not in Anees TV | Not in Anees TV |
| Expiry date in the app | Shown on the home screen when your provider publishes it | Not shown |
| Loading a big list | Live TV, films and series are fetched at the same time | The whole file downloads first, then the app sorts it on the device |
| Editing on a TV remote | Fix one short field without retyping the rest | One long address to retype or correct |
Checked against the current Anees TV app. Catch-up (replaying a programme that already aired) is not offered for either type.
If your M3U link looks like
…/get.php?username=…&password=…, you may already have an Xtream
login: the part before /get.php is the server, and the two values
in the link are the username and password.
The setup screen has a tab for each: Xtream Codes (Playlist name, Server, Username, Password) and M3U URL (Playlist name and M3U playlist URL). Press Save & load and the app sorts what arrives into Live TV, Movies and Series. Later, change a playlist under Settings → Playlists instead of adding a second copy.
The free tier holds one playlist of either kind. Pro holds as many as you like, both types mixed, and syncs them, encrypted, across up to five devices. Step-by-step help: adding an Xtream Codes login and adding an M3U playlist.
In Anees TV, usually yes, when your provider offers it: the Xtream Codes login brings series in seasons, the provider's TV guide and your expiry date, and it is easier to type on a TV remote. An M3U link plays the same channels with less around them.
Usually, yes. Both come from the same subscription; they are two ways of asking your provider for it. The difference is what arrives with the channels, not which channels you get.
Often. If your link looks like get.php?username=…&password=…, the part before /get.php is the server, and the two values in the link are the username and password. If it does not, ask your provider for an Xtream Codes login.
The free tier holds one playlist of either kind. Pro holds as many as you like, M3U and Xtream Codes mixed, and you switch between them in the app.
No. Both are ways to reach a subscription you already have with a provider. Anees TV is a player only and does not provide, sell or host any channels, playlists or logins.
Anees TV ships with no channels or playlists. You are responsible for the playlists you add and for having the lawful right to access them.
